Head of Care – (Elderly Care)

Full time – 36 – 42 hours a week


Job Description

This role is responsible for the day to day running of the Care team and to support the Management team.

The job description is a broad description of the duties for Head of Care may be expected to perform. This is not an exhaustive list and the Head of Care may be asked to undertake additional tasks

Duties will include:

Monitoring the resident’s nutritional and hydration needs
Monitoring and supervising care staff who are delivering residents personal care needs.
Championing Person Centred Care.
Championing dignity and respect of the residents at all times.
Monitoring and assess the moving and handling need of the residents.
Liaise with families / answer queries regarding care needs.
Monitoring paperwork is in place and updating it as required.
Reviewing and updating care plans as necessary.
Liaise with Manager in regards of personal care needs of the residents.
Monitoring documentation relating to the residents which has been written by the care team.
Administrating medication as prescribed, passing 3 monthly medication assessments.
Assist visiting members of the local multidisciplinary team such as doctors and district nurses.

Leading a team of care staff and ensuring that they deliver a high standard of care whilst maintaining the dignity of residents at all times.
Correctly document incidents, accidents and safeguarding issues within the home.
Inform the management team / person on call of any incidents / accidents depending on their severity.
Act in a professional manner at all times in appearance and behaviour.


Requirements

Level 3 Diploma in Health and Social Care or equivalent
Must Have Experience of working In an Elderly Care setting
